accutire tire gauge 4350-b Nov 20, 2009
The gauge does what it is designed to do. It is a VERY good product. I recommend it.
Poor design ruins otherwise good product Nov 07, 2009 I purchased three of these MS-4350B tire gauges -- one for each of my vehicles. They arrived yesterday. They are going back today. I tried to make an air-tight seal, but regardless of how hard I pushed (and I tried it on each of my vehicles) I could not prevent air from escaping. I see where several other reviewers had some success by purchasing an O-ring, but I feel the manufacturer should make a product that works as advertised without me having to modify it for them.
Nice when it worked...which wasn't long Oct 22, 2009 I bought this a little over a year ago and initially had a bit of trouble getting it to seal on the valve stems of the wife's SUV. However, with a little bit of adjustment on my part, it sealed ok. Altogether, I have probably checked both our vehicles tires about 3 times in the last year, and when I just went to check mine the gauge read 50.0 psi!! Well I was startled to say the least but I knew that wasn't correct.
I grabbed our trusty old pencil type gauge and it read 28psi. I had another pencil gauge stored deep in the recess of my workshop and tried that one too-it agreed with its cousin, 28psi. I tried the Accutire gauge on the rest and all read 49.5-50.0 psi. Reading the instructions, they suggested resetting the gauge, which I did to no avail. it still reads WAY above the correct setting.
So, I think from now on I will rely on the old standby pencil type as they seem to be more durable and accurate then this particular digital gauge was. My opinion, it was a waste on money.
Full value for money Oct 04, 2009 I bought this gauge around 8 months back and am very pleased with its performance. Its very easy to use and provides the tire pressure in just seconds. I read in other reviews that it does not seal properly while trying to get the pressure. That was true for me initially but as I used it more I got a better understanding of how it should be held so that it seals properly. Now, I am able to get it to seal properly with out any efforts. I am very pleased with the little guy and will definitely recommend it.
JUST NEEDS A SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT Oct 03, 2009 The gauge is a very accurate gauge but I had problems getting it to register pressure on some tires. I couldn't get it to read on some of my car tires, no matter what. Some reviewers have indicated they must press really hard to get a reading. One or two have suggested adding an O-ring. This got me thinking. I noticed the valve stem on the tires it wouldn't read were slightly shorter and narrower than the valve stems on the tires it would easily read. The black shaft on the gauge appears to function as a tire valve stem depressor which pushes in the stem thus releasing pressure to get a reading. Using a needle nose plier I pulled out the black shaft on the gauge. I also very slightly reduced the diameter of this shaft (it is hollow and rolled) to accommodate the slightly narrower stems on the Michelin tires. And wallah! Now the gauge easily reads all of my tires! Now that the shaft is moved out enough I can also release tire pressure to easily attain proper pressure if one over shoots.
The gauge is accurate and now, easy to use. I have not experienced any sealing issues either. At 12.99, this is an excellent purchase for maintaining proper tire pressure. Manufacturer's specifications are the problem but any customer can modify this cheap gauge to make it work. It's worth it!
I highly recommend it.
